A Short Trip to Kanyakumari

Though it was not a very well-planned trip, the visit to Kanyakumari with my parents turned out to be a good one. We started with a visit to Vivekananda Rock and then headed to the temple in the evening.

Watching the sunset at Triveni Sangam is something you simply shouldn't miss when in Kanyakumari. The clouds played along beautifully, adding some vibrant colors to the sky and making the sunset even more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said about the following morning. We headed to the beach to catch the sunrise and reached around 5 AM to secure a good spot. However, the clouds had other plans. They covered the rising sun, leaving us waiting for a view that never quite materialised. After making such an early start, it was a little disappointing that we couldn't enjoy the sunrise as we had hoped.

The Final Day in Meghalaya: From the Border to the Breathtaking Laitlum Canyon

The final day in Meghalaya began at the India–Bangladesh border. Standing here was one of those moments that fills you with pride in being an Indian. The border is guarded by the BSF, but the natural landscape is quite different from what you might imagine. With the river forming much of the boundary, there are no continuous physical barriers along the entire stretch. During the monsoon, the powerful river can wash away anything in its path, making the landscape even more unpredictable.

From there, we headed to the famous Seven Sisters Falls. Unfortunately, the falls had dried up, and there was hardly any water to see. The name promised a spectacular sight, but nature had other plans!

Our next stop was Elephant Falls. Honestly, I found it a little overhyped and not quite worth the time and effort it took to get there. Perhaps my expectations were too high, or maybe I had already seen better waterfalls during the trip.

We also tried visiting another waterfall, only to find it closed. However, I managed to capture a zoomed-in photograph from a distance. Sometimes, travel is about making the best of unexpected situations!

Finally, we arrived at Laitlum Canyon, and what a way to end the trip! The breathtaking views of the rolling green hills and deep valleys made the journey worthwhile. The vast landscape was truly mesmerising, offering the perfect place to pause, take in the beauty of Meghalaya, and reflect on the wonderful memories of the trip.
