The final day in Meghalaya began at the India–Bangladesh border. Standing here was one of those moments that fills you with pride in being an Indian. The border is guarded by the BSF, but the natural landscape is quite different from what you might imagine. With the river forming much of the boundary, there are no continuous physical barriers along the entire stretch. During the monsoon, the powerful river can wash away anything in its path, making the landscape even more unpredictable.
From there, we headed to the famous Seven Sisters Falls. Unfortunately, the falls had dried up, and there was hardly any water to see. The name promised a spectacular sight, but nature had other plans!
Our next stop was Elephant Falls. Honestly, I found it a little overhyped and not quite worth the time and effort it took to get there. Perhaps my expectations were too high, or maybe I had already seen better waterfalls during the trip.
We also tried visiting another waterfall, only to find it closed. However, I managed to capture a zoomed-in photograph from a distance. Sometimes, travel is about making the best of unexpected situations!
Finally, we arrived at Laitlum Canyon, and what a way to end the trip! The breathtaking views of the rolling green hills and deep valleys made the journey worthwhile. The vast landscape was truly mesmerising, offering the perfect place to pause, take in the beauty of Meghalaya, and reflect on the wonderful memories of the trip.
