Madhura Meenakshi Temple

Our main objective of Madhurai visit was to get blessings at the Meenakshi temple, but it was our second stop after the palace visit. Though the temple is an engineering marvel, we are not allowed to take cameras inside the temple. I had to come back next day to take pictures or "Gopurams" from the streets around the temple.

Solar eclipse

I was in my hometown when the last solar eclipse of the decade happened. Though it was one of the best location to see the spectacle, with parents watching me, it was difficult for me to go out and take pictures. Posting some that I managed somehow!!!

Madurai-Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal

Our trip to Madurai started with a visit to Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal. A 17th century palace built by the then Nayaka ruler, today it is a national monument under archaeological department. 

Interior is a fusion of Dravidian and Rajput style.

We came across some happy faces, a group of students who were on a visit to the palace.

Took few pictures inside the palace, including one with a huge beehive. 

Beautiful Palakkad

This is the section of western ghats in Palakkad that is close to my house.
Summer clouds are seen on the peak of Nelliampathy mountain. 

Peacock's are regular visitors in these areas. People are not as exited as I was seeing one on the field.

Our pet Parrot

He flew into our lives totally unexpected, on a weekend. It was fun having him around, the sounds and actions he made, getting closer and closer as days passed. 

And then, just as he came, he flew away one fine day. He chose open skies over our love and affection.

Butterfly season

It was butterfly season this time when I went home. Some pictures of this skittish insect that took lot of my time to come in the frame.
